Recreating Van Gogh’s Starry night with Dominoes ! That’s a big challenge !!

Some people are just awesome and always surprise us with impressive creative stuff !
Finding a relation between painting and dominoes looks like a hard task. But FlippyCat find it and created his…own art : Reproducing Van Gogh’s masterpiece « Starry night » with 7067 dominoes ! Isn’t Great ?

After 2 attempts with 11 hours of work on the second one , the result is just magnificent !

PS : The video is a little bit old, i’ve just came across it while watching some of my youtube’s playlists ! So, I’m sharing it with you, especially that i’m a great fan of Van Gogh…

Happy Ramadan everybody : 10 beautiful mosques around the world !

Ramadan is here, and it’s a great moment for all muslims all around the world. Everybody’s welcoming a month that I hope will be rich of great happy moments : loving and helping each other, sharing nice things, forgiving…and the most important of all, getting close to Allah…

I’m here today to wish you a happy Ramadan full of blessing and peace of mind. May this holly month brings us closer to Allah and our loved ones.

I was asking my self what could I share with you today, i tought about a lot of things before deciding to gather pictures of ten of my favourite mosques around the world. I may love them for their emotional weight in any muslim’s heart, for their history or their architecture…the reasons could be different, but what I’m sure about, there is a great chance you may love’em too ^^

So here’s my selection, ENJOY ^^

Al-Masjid al-Ḥarām, Mecca, Saudia Arabia
Surrounds Islam’s holiest place, the Kaaba which was built by the prophet Ibrahim. The « sacred mosque » is the largest in the world, it receives 4 millions muslims during the period of Hajj. The Kaaba serves as the common direction towards which Muslims pray.





Sultan Ahmed Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey 
(Popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior.)
It was built from 1609 to 1616, during the rule of the Ottoman sultan Ahmed 1st. Its architecture is a culmination of two centuries of both Ottoman mosque and Byzantine church development. As a symbol of majesty and splendour, The mosque has 6 minarets along with 8 domes and 1 main one.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Considered as one of the most beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific,  This harmonious union of Mughal architecture and Italian styles was completed in 1958. The plans were done by Booty and Edwards Chartered Architects according to designs by the Italian architect Cavaliere Rudolfo Nolli.
The mosque is built in an artificial lagoon on the banks of the Brunei River at Kampong Ayer, the « village in the water ». It has marble minarets and golden domes with courtyards and lush gardens full of fountains



Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca, Morocco
Hassan II, the king of Morocco said « I want to build this mosque on the water, because God’s throne is on the water. Therefore, the faithful who go there to pray, to praise the Creator on firm soil, can contemplate God’s sky and ocean. »
His ambition gives birth to the 7th largest mosque in the world and its tallest minaret (210 m).
Inaugurated in the 30th August 1993, the mosque displays strong Moorish influence and the architecture of the building is similar to that of the Andalous’ Alhambra and the Great Mosque of Cordoba.




Malacca straits mosque, Malacca Island, Malaysa
located on the man-made Malacca Island, It was inaugurated in 2006.
The beautiful mosque was built so that when the water tide is high, the Mosque looks like it is floating on the ocean.

Leonid Afremov : Colors celebrated !

Some paintings free up some magical beauty you just can’t help yourself falling in love with ! this is the case of Leonid Afremov masterpiece.

With only a palette knife and oil paint, the bellorussian painter creates in each of his works a festival of wild warm colors…Urban life scenes, lanscapes, cinema and music stars, lovers…Leonid represents anything and anyone in a breathtaking mosaic where vivid colors and watery reflections merge in harmony.

After graduating with honor from the Vitebsk Art School where he was introduced to the work of Marc Chagall, Picasso, Dali, Modigliani…Leonid Afremov begin developing and perfectioning his own painting technique. The uniqueness of his artistic style makes that you can easily recognize his paintings.

About his work, Leonid says : « I tried different techniques during my career, but I especially fell in love with painting with oil and pallette-knife. Every artwork is the result of long painting process; every canvas is born during the creative search; every painting is full of my inner world. Each of my paintings brings different moods, colors and emotions. I love to express the beauty, harmony and spirit of this world in my paintings. My heart is completely open to art. Thus, I enjoy creating inspired and beautiful paintings from the bottom of my soul. Each of my artworks reflects my feelings, sensitivity, passion, and the music from my soul. Where the Hell is Matt ? He’s back, and he’s still dancing !

Do you remember Matt ? That lovely dude strangely dancing  in different spots all around the world ! we’ve all wished being in his place, travelling around the globe, dancing with people from 42 different nations and the best of all…Made a video that reached 43 millions views and makes people smile, feel happy and hope for a peaceful world… »I smile like a complete loser when I watch this. What a great life you must have, living to make other people smile through dance. I would gladly dance with you sir« , someone commented !

After 4 years where we were asking  « where the hell is matt ? », Here he is, back again with a new video. He’s not dancing his « bad dance » (like he loves to call it) but he’s still dancing, and that’s why everybody loves him 😀

==> The last scene where he’s dancing with his family is just awesome ^^

Matt is some kind of a hero for me ! because one day he has decided to let everything behind his back and follow his passion. That day, he says,  » I didn’t want to spend two years of my life writing a game about killing everyone » (talking about destroy all humans), he quit his job and began traveling ! He’s GREAT !
